timeline for a decade of terror
West Germany suffered through it’s most painful decade since World War II from 1967 to 1977. Bookended by the deadly June 1967 student riot in West Berlin in which a young pacifist named Benno Ohnesorg was killed by a police officer, and the mysterious events of “Death Night” in 1977 in which the three leaders of the Baader-Meinhof Gang, were found dead in their Stuttgart prison cells, the deadly decade forever transformed Germany.
